Faulkner Hospital's volunteers reflect the same diversity in age, culture and lifestyle found among our patients. Volunteers represent people from all walks of life including professionals, retirees and students.

The Volunteer Services Program makes an effort to match a person's interests with placements within the hospital that will result in a mutually beneficial experience.  Some volunteers enjoy working in direct contact with patients, while others prefer behind-the-scenes projects. Volunteers work in varied hospital settings, including Food and Nutrition Services, Patient/Family Resource Center, Information desks, In-patient units, Gift shop and more.

Some examples of volunteer assignments include:

  • Assisting patients and visitors at the information desks.
  • Visiting with patients to discus ways the patient's experience might be improved and to identify what is working well.
  • Conducting health education research online through Faulkner Hospital's library materials.
  • Working with patients and staff in the Dana Farber/Brigham and Women's Cancer Center.
  • Provide clerical or administrative support.

*Please note: The deadline for students to apply for summer opportunities is now closed.

Please check back in the fall for more information.
