Faulkner-Sagoff Breast Imaging and Diagnostic Centre

The Faulkner-Sagoff Breast Imaging and Diagnostic Centre provides a patient-centered approach to breast cancer detection and prevention, making it one of the leading centers for breast health care in New England and in the country.

In the decades since its establishment in 1971, the Centre has cared for well over 100,000 women. What makes the Faulkner-Sagoff Centre unique, however, is not the number of patients seen, but the exceptional care they receive.

The Centre provides a number of exceptional services. Women who visit the Centre during regular work hours receive the results of their mammograms before they leave. All first-time patients, as well as those with signs or symptoms of a breast abnormality, are examined by a board-certified radiologist who takes the time to answer questions and provide reassurance. All of our licensed technologists are specially trained in mammography. Every member of the Centre's staff firmly believes in ensuring that each woman is comfortable with her examination and understands her results.

The Sagoff Centre staff would not be able to provide the highest quality, patient-centered care without the proper technology to examine and diagnose each patient. Money raised through the RUNWAY event enables the Centre to purchase and maintain state-of-the-art mammography equipment, including digital mammography units and the Aurora MRI.

The Faulkner-Sagoff Centre is proud to be one of the first fully digital centers in the region, thanks to the generous contributions of previous gala donors. Direct digital imaging allows the radiologist to adjust the density and contrast of the image so that repeat views would rarely be necessary.

We are also proud to be the site of New England's first dedicated breast magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) system. This system called Aurora ®, is an advanced MRI scanner designed specifically to image breasts. The Aurora ® MRI is the only commercially available, FDA-cleared dedicated breast imaging system available today.
