Faulkner-Sagoff Breast Imaging and Diagnostic Centre
Overview
Description:

The Faulkner-Sagoff Breast Imaging and Diagnostic Centre provides a patient-centered approach to breast cancer detection, prevention, patient and staff education, research and treatment, making it one of the leading centers for breast health care in New England and
in the country.

In the decades since its establishment in 1971, the Centre has cared for well over 100,000 women. What makes the Faulkner-Sagoff Centre unique, however, is not the number of patients seen, but the exceptional care they receive.

Exceptional Care: The Faulkner-Sagoff Breast Imaging and Diagnostic Centre provides a number of exceptional services. Women who visit the Centre during regular work hours receive the results of their mammograms before they leave. All first-time patients, as well as those with signs or symptoms of a breast abnormality, are examined by a board-certified radiologist who takes the time to answer questions and provide reassurance. All of our licensed technologists are specially trained in mammography. Every member of the Centre's staff firmly believes in ensuring that each woman is comfortable with her examination and understands her results.
Education: Elsie Levin, MD was appointed the Centre's Medical Director in 2004. Dr. Levin assumes her position as Director of the Centre following the long-time leadership of her mentor, Norman Sadowsky, MD. Dr. Levin has been a staff radiologist at the Faulkner-Sagoff Centre since 1991 and had held the position of Associate Director since 1999. She is dedicated to continuing the tradition of promoting high standards and strict regulations for mammography, increasing access to breast cancer detection for un- and under-insured women, creating statewide health education programs and garnering support for breast cancer research.

Dr. Levin, Dr. Sadowsky and the Faulkner-Sagoff clinicians lecture and teach regionally, nationally and internationally, increasing awareness of detection options and sharing new information. Dr. Levin's clinical interests include all aspects of breast imaging and intervention including digital mammography with the use of computer aided detection, breast ultrasound and MRI. The breast MRI service, under the leadership of Dr. Levin, is nationally recognized for its excellence in high-risk screening and evaluation of the newly diagnosed breast cancer patient.

The Faulkner-Sagoff Centre also offers a unique, one-year fellowship to educate interested radiologists in breast health care.
