The Faulkner-Sagoff Breast Imaging and Diagnostic Centre offers bone density studies for osteoporosis using the latest diagnostic equipment available. An appointment can be scheduled together with a mammogram or as a separate procedure. Please check with your primary care physician to determine your need for this study and to find out if a referral is needed.

Elsie Levin, MD, Medical Director
Dr. Levin has been a staff radiologist at the Sagoff Centre since 1991 and has been the Associate Director since 1999. She received her medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine and went on to complete her residency in Diagnostic Radiology at Boston University Medical Center. Following her residency, she spent one year as a fellow in breast imaging at the Faulkner-Sagoff Centre under the direction of Norman Sadowsky, MD. Dr. Levin's clinical interests include all aspects of breast imaging and intervention including digital mammography with the use of computer aided detection, breast ultrasound and MRI. The breast MRI service under the leadership of Dr. Levin is nationally recognized for its excellence in high-risk screening and evaluation of the newly diagnosed breast cancer patient.

The Faulkner-Sagoff Breast Imaging and Diagnostic Centre's regular hours are 7:30 am - 5:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 7:30 am - 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Screening appointments are also available both evenings and weekends. A radiologist is not present to read the films during these later screening appointments, but the patient will be informed of the results within two working days. Most major insurance plans are accepted. For more information or to make an appointment for a mammogram, consultation, or second opinion, please call (617) 983-7272. You will need to provide information including your name, date of birth, phone number, address and the name of the physician to whom we should send the report. If you have had films taken previously elsewhere, you will be asked to bring those to your appointment.

Faulkner Hospital also offers free mammograms to uninsured women over 40. Please call (617) 983-7451 for more information. Appointments are required.

The Faulkner-Sagoff Breast Imaging and Diagnostic Centre is located in the Belkin House which is the red brick building adjacent to the hospital's front entrance and Emergency Department. On-site parking is available.

The Friends of Faulkner-Sagoff Centre has raised over 1.8 million dollars over the past 9 years to benefit the Faulkner-Sagoff Breast Imaging and Diagnostic Centre through events such as the annual Friends of Faulkner-Sagoff Centre Gala and Auction.

Gifts play an important role in the Centre's ability to care for its patients. Donations support innovative research, the purchase of state of the art equipment, and the education and training of professionals through the fellowship program as well as patient programs. The Mammography Access Program also receives support to increase access to breast health care for uninsured women .
