Our Approach to Cardiac Rehabilitation at Faulkner Hospital

  A Comprehensive Approach to Rehabilitation

The first step to determine an appropriate activity level is an exercise stress test, which is performed with the recommendation of each participant's physician. Stress test results are combined with a personal medical history so that program staff can develop an individual recovery program for each participant.

At Faulkner Hospital, we believe that exercise is the cornerstone of any cardiac rehabilitation program. While monitored with telemetry equipment, participants learn how to safely and effectively use fitness equipment, including stationary bicycles, treadmills and arm ergometers, which help build upper body strength.

One of the main goals of Faulkner Hospital's Cardiac Rehabilitation Program is to give participants the tools they need in order to succeed after the program is completed. To this end, patients are educated on the benefits of continuing to exercise following cardiac rehab and taught how to safely exercise at home.
